Ultimate Rod Racks NZ designs and manufactures premium aftermarket rod storage systems compatible with Southern boats, helping anglers keep rods organised, protected and ready for action on the water.
Many Southern boats use a 3–5 mm alloy plate gunnel system with protective rubber caps, rather than the folded rectangular storage pockets found on some other aluminium boats.
The Ultimate Rod Racks SLR 25 Backframe system, built on our GunnelCore™ adjustable mounting architecture, can be configured to mount securely to this style of gunnel structure. The adjustable system allows the rack to be positioned correctly while maintaining stability and proper rod support.
Depending on the specific Southern model, the rack may also utilise the H-Frame support structure for additional stability. Where this support is not present, an optional stabiliser bracket can be fitted to provide additional support and ensure a secure installation.

The SLR 25 Backframe system provides a versatile mounting solution for Southern boats with alloy plate gunnels.
Built around the GunnelCore™ adjustable backframe architecture, the system allows the rack to be positioned correctly for improved rod support, balance and accessibility while keeping rods neatly organised along the gunnel.
For models fitted with the Southern H-Frame support system, this structure can assist in stabilising the rack installation. Where the H-Frame is not present, a stabiliser bracket upgrade can be added to provide additional support and rigidity.
