Customer Boat Showcase: Gaz’s Profile 780
For Whakatāne-based Gaz Rowlands, boating means variety. His Profile 780 takes him from trout fishing on the Rotorua lakes to game fishing around White Island, with diving and softbaiting in between.
With different trips come different gear requirements. Gaz uses two of the Ultimate Rod Rack Systems 5XL - These Rod Racks set up specially for his Profile Boat when , giving him the option to take one rack or both.
“Having two of the 5-rack systems is great, as I only need one if it’s just shooting out for a softbait. If we’re heading out for a big day, I can put them both in.”

Set up to suit the fishing
Being able to reposition the racks is another feature Gaz values.
“It’s great to be able to position them on either side of the boat too.”
That flexibility lets him arrange his rod storage around the day’s fishing, keeping spare outfits together and within reach while leaving room to move around the cockpit.
Gaz’s verdict is straightforward:
“Using them heaps. Keeps things tidy and stops your rods and reels getting knocked around, and you can position them wherever you want.”

From the coast to the lakes
Gaz supplied these photos while heading to Lake Rotoiti for the trout fishing opening—a look at the racks in use on a boat that does far more than one style of fishing.
His suggestion for a future addition? “I reckon a dive bottle rack would be handy too.”
Thanks to Gaz for sharing his Profile 780 and showing how adaptable rod storage supports the way he fishes.
